Documenting

burning man

Each year in late August some 70,000 creative thinkers, artists, and craftspeople gather for one week in the mountain-surrounded desert basin known as Black Rock, located in a remote region in Nevada, USA, some 142 miles northeast of Reno. This dry lakebed often referred to as The Playa, offers both subtle and dramatic ever-changing light and shadow, soft and marked hues, and a night sky where one might reach out and touch the stars. Surrounded by mountains, this space is an incredible backdrop that transports one past the everyday into a community of surprises and the unforeseen. Human expression and interaction create a life changing experience which leaves an indelible mark on the individual and is life-changing. I have had the privilege to live here and document the experience that is Burning Man.
